A 14-year-old boy was shot Friday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

At 10:45 p.m., the boy was walking in the 1400 block of North Washtenaw when someone from a passing black SUV fired shots at him, police said.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the right ankle, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Police believe the shooting was gang related because the boy is a documented gang member.
