A 17-year-old boy has been charged with shooting someone on Thanksgiving in northwest suburban Elgin.
A male juvenile was found with gunshot wounds about 8 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of East Chicago Street, according to a statement from Elgin police. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, and he was taken to Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin.
A 17-year-old boy who lives in Elgin was arrested in connection with the shooting, and gang crimes detectives recovered a handgun, police said. He was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and using a firearm without a FOID card.
The boy was expected to be taken to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center Friday afternoon.
