A man was killed and at least seven other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago Thursday, police said.

The latest attack turned into a homicide in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side about 8 p.m.

A 22-year-old man man was standing on a sidewalk in the 7900 block of South Ellis when a gray sedan pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the head buttocks and right calf, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality.

About 4:30 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was shot and critically injured near a South Chicago neighborhood high school.

He was standing outside in the 2700 block of East 89th Street when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. Bessemer Park is located on that block, just across the street from Bowen High School and Baker College Prep.

The boy was taken in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital with gunshot wounds in his wrist and chest, Chicago Fire Department officials said.

Just before 3 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the back in Little Village on the Southwest Side. He was standing outside in the 2700 block of West 24th Street when a vehicle drove up and someone got out and started shooting. The man — a documented gang member — was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

About 1:30 p.m., a 37-year-old man was wounded in a Greater Grand Crossing drive-by attack on the South Side. He was outside in the 600 block of East 79th Street when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the leg, police said. He was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Christ Medical Center, fire officials said.

Thursday morning, a man and teenage boy were shot within 20 minutes of each other in separate attacks on the South and West sides.

About 8:45 a.m., a 22-year-year-old man was shot multiple times in West Englewood’s 1300 block of West 73rd Street. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

At 8:27 a.m., someone walked up to a 15-year-old boy in the 900 block of North Latrobe and shot him more than once, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Thursday’s first shooting happened at 2:10 a.m. in Logan Square.

Two men, ages 30 and 44, were standing in an alley in the 1800 block of North Richmond when two people walked up and fired at them. The younger man was shot in the buttocks and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The older was struck in the left hand and taken to Norwegian American Hospital. Both their conditions stabilized, police said.
