A gunman in a vehicle fired shots at a man as he got out of his car, striking the house and a vehicle, and grazing the man Thursday in evening in southwest suburban Plainfield.

The man called police at 6:42 p.m. about the incident in the 24000 block of West Champion Drive, according to Plainfield police.

He said he was walking to the front door when a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired multiple shots, hitting the house and a vehicle in the driveway, a statement from police said.

The resident, who police believe was the intended target, was grazed by a bullet fragment but refused medical treatment, police said.

“This was not a random shooting. This event was targeted at the specific individual living at this specific residence,” police said in the statement.

Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting should call Det. Dabezic at (815) 439-7652.
