Police are warning businesses on the Northwest Side of two recent robberies in the Logan Square and Avondale neighborhoods.

In both incidents, a male armed with a butcher knife entered a small restaurant or convenience store and announced a robbery, according to a community alert from Chicago Police. He has also implied he was holding a handgun.

The most recent robbery happened at 11:05 p.m. Oct. 28 in the 3200 block of West Diversey, police said. The other robbery happened at 7:52 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 2100 block of West Armitage.

The robber is described as a white or white-Hispanic male, standing between 5-feet and 5-feet-5, weighing between 130 and 150 pounds, with blue eyes and a light complexion, police said. He was wearing beige or grey jacket with “cow spots,” a grey hoodie, grey sweatpants, black and tan mittens with a black ski mask covering his head.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
