Lane closures start Monday along a portion of U.S. 45 in southwest suburban Mokena for a repaving project.

Lanes will be reduced on U.S. 45 between Birch and Colorado avenues until the project wraps up July 17, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The lane closures will change throughout the course of the project, IDOT said.

During that time, crews will be patching pavement, milling the roadway and putting down a new asphalt surface, IDOT said.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time.
