SHARE Week of overnight lane closures planned for Dan Ryan

Some lanes on the Dan Ryan Expressway will be closed overnight starting Monday evening to allow crews to demolish part of the 63rd Street Bridge.

Lane closures could start as early as 8 p.m. Monday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. They will continue during the late evening to early morning hours every night through Sunday morning.

Local lanes in both directions will be fully closed intermittently for 15 minutes at a time. Those full closures will happen between 1-5 a.m., Monday through Friday; and 1-7 a.m. Sunday, IDOT said.

Drivers in the express lanes will also see occasional full 15-minute closures from midnight until 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, midnight to 6 a.m. Friday, and midnight to 7 a.m. Saturday, IDOT said.

The closures will allow crews to demolish the beams of the 63rd Street Bridge, IDOT said. The project will be complete by early May.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time.
