Man shot to death in Gary

A man was shot to death in northwest Indiana Tuesday morning.

Alfred Wiley, 46, was shot in the 6300 block of East 3rd Avenue in Gary, according to a statement from the Lake County Coroner’s office.

Citizens in the area heard shots fired and saw two males run from the area, according to Gary police. After he was shot, Wiley knocked on several doors asking for help.

Emergency crews later took him to Methodist Hospital in Gary, where he was pronounced dead at 9:24 a.m., according to the coroner’s office

As of Tuesday afternoon, no one was in custody for the shooting, according to Gary police.
