A man who was shot Monday afternoon in the West Side West Garfield Park neighborhood died a day later.

Graig Stewart, 28, was shot in the head about 2 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of North Karlov, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Witnesses told police they had heard gunshots, and when they looked outside they found him lying on the ground.

Stewart, of the 1200 block of South Central, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead Tuesday at 2:29 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy found he died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.

A police source said Stewart was a documented gang member.
