Police issue alert after burglaries, car thefts in Lake View

A burglary alert has been issued by Chicago Police after five incidents were reported last month in Lake View on the North Side.

Police said suspects enter apartments through unlocked windows during evening and overnight hours.

The incidents were reported on Aug. 27-28 in the 600 block of West Roscoe Street between 10 p.m.- 8 a.m., and on Aug. 28 in the 3400 block of North Sheffield Avenue around 12:30 a.m., police said.

Police said three other incidents took place on Aug. 28-29 in the 3200 block of North Seminary Avenue between 10 p.m.- 2:30 a.m., in the 800 block of West Newport Avenue between 1 a.m.- 7 a.m., and in the 700 block of West Barry Avenue between 9:30 a.m.- 1 a.m.

During two of the five burglaries, the victim’s car keys were removed and vehicles stolen, police said.

The offender in the Sheffield Avenue incident is described by the police as a white male, around 6-feet, between 170-200 pounds.

Police advise residents to ensure all windows and doors are secured, and report any suspicious people or activity in the area.
