A man was shot to death Thursday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man, 21, was walking in the 1600 block of North Francisco about 2:30 p.m. when two males walked up, one of them produced a gun and opened fire, police said. The males then ran away northbound.

The man was shot in the torso, arm and lower back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the fatality, but did not release additional details.

A police source said the man was a documented gang member.
