1 in custody, 1 sought in Palos Park van theft, chase

Palos Park police are searching for one of two men who led officers on a chase in a stolen van early Saturday in the southwest suburb.

About 3 a.m., a patrol officer clocked the van traveling 95 mph on Southwest Highway near 121st Street, according to Palos Park police Chief Joe Miller.

Officers gave chase to 127th Street and 84th Avenue, where they got out of the van and the driver was arrested after a short foot pursuit, Miller said. A K-9 unit search for the passenger was unsuccessful.

Investigators found out the van had been stolen from an Orland Park nursing home employee, police said.

The passenger is described as a short Hispanic man who was wearing a black and white jacket along with a black hat.

Anyone with information should call police at (708) 671-3771.
