Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a 61-year-old man dead Saturday afternoon in northwest suburban Elgin.

A 61-year-old man was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla northbound on Randall Road when his car crossed over the center line in the road and hit a 2006 Mercedes E350, according to a statement from the Elgin Police Department.

The 61-year-old man was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office did not immediately confirm the death.

A 40-year-old man driving the Mercedes was transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
