Police: Person shot self during domestic dispute in Algonquin

A person suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday morning during a domestic dispute in northwest suburban Algonquin, police said.

About 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call for a domestic disturbance in which one person was shot in the 9900 block of Captains Drive in Algonquin, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates a domestic dispute broke out between the occupants of the house and one person suffered a gunshot wound. That person was taken by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The injury was likely self-inflicted, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
