View image | gettyimages.comChicago Sky forward Elena Delle Donne has been named the recipient of the 2015 WNBA MVP award.

The 26-year-old scoring machine is the first player in the history of the Chicago Sky to win the award. In the Eastern Conference, there has been just two other MVPs since 2000 — Tamika Catchings (2008) and Tina Charles (2012).

Delle Donne was chosen as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft and won the Rookie of the Year Award. She also helped guide the Sky to a playoff berth in her first year.

During a “SportsCenter” interview, Delle Donne said that she — and the team — are focused on winning a championship.

A WNBA championship is by far the biggest goal, she said. That would by far be the most amazing thing to bring home to Chicago.

This season, the former Delaware player averages a league-high 23.4 points per game, and notched a free-throw rating of 95 percent.
