Police are warning residents about a church burglary reported on Thursday in west suburban Batavia.

The burglary happened at Holy Cross Church and School in the 2300 block of Main Street at 7:07 a.m., a statement from Batavia police said.

Church employees discovered the burglary when they arrived to work and inventoried items to determine if anything was stolen, police said.

Classes were cancelled Thursday so that evidence could be gathered.
