Police are warning residents about a pair of robberies reported over the past week in the North Side Lake View neighborhood.

In each of the reported incidents, someone has approached victims on the street from behind and used force to steal their purses, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The first robbery occurred in the 1300 block of West Henderson about 6:15 p.m. Sept. 12, police said. The second occurred in the 2800 block of North Pine Grove about 12:10 p.m. Sept. 17.

The suspect in the Henderson robbery is described as a 18 to 22-year-old black man standing about 5-foot-8 and weighing 150 pounds, police said. He was wearing brown, calf-high, fringed moccasin-style boots.

The suspect in the Pine Grove robbery is described as a 6-foot black male between 160 and 170 pounds, police said. He was wearing a turquoise do-rag, a black shirt and blue sweatpants. He left the scene in a red minivan.
