Undefeated Northern Illinois brought everything they had against the No. 1 Ohio State football team Saturday.

Early on, the Huskies were looking like the team poised to make a run at a national championship. NIU out rushed the Buckeyes ground game 41-36 and led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

The Huskies also beat the Buckeyes in the turnover battle early. OSU turned the ball over twice while the team appeared to be driving towards the red zone.

After a Cardale Jones interception on a severely overthrown pass, running back Ezekiel Elliot fumbled the ball on a fourth down play on the next possession.
