A 48-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in northwest suburban Elgin.

The motorcyclist was southbound on McLean Boulevard north of Bowes Road when his bike struck a truck parked in the right lane performing utility work, according to Elgin police.

The motorcyclist was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital with serious injuries. Police said he did not appear to be wearing a helmet.

No one else was injured.

Southbound Bowes Road was expected to reopen by 4 p.m. Anyone with information about the crash should call the police Traffic Unit at (847) 289-2661.
