Bond was denied on Friday for a man charged with a fatal shooting in the Burnside neighborhood earlier this week.
Stephen Crump, 27, faces a count of first-degree murder for the Sept. 22 shooting that left 28-year-old Marsolino White dead, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
About 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Crump walked up from behind White in the 9200 block of South Cottage Grove and shot him in the back of the head, authorities said.
White, of the 7700 block of South Coles, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 4:19 p.m., authorities said.
Crump, of the 300 block of East 70th Place, appeared in bond court Friday, where a judge ordered him held without bond, according to police and the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is due back in court Oct. 13.
