A West Side man died Wednesday afternoon of injuries he suffered in an East Garfield Park neighborhood shooting that left another man wounded early Sunday.
The men, ages 28 and 30, were standing outside about 4 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Walnut when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.
The younger man, identified as Craig Bannister of the 400 block of North Central, was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died Wednesday at 12:04 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy Friday ruled his death a homicide.
The older man was shot in the left thigh and taken to Mount Sinai, where his condition was stabilized.
A police source said both men had documented gang ties.
Police did not have an update on the investigation Friday afternoon.
