2 dead, 9 wounded in Chicago shootings Thursday

Two people were killed and nine others wounded in shootings Thursday on the South and West sides.

One man was killed and another was wounded in an exchange of gunfire about 5:10 a.m., police said.

The men shot at each other during an argument in the 4700 block of South King Drive, police said. A 39-year-old man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man, 52, was shot in the knee and shin and taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

About 2:45 a.m., a 28-year-old woman was fatally shot in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Claudia Mister was outside in the 1600 block of West 115th Place when someone walked up and shot her in the torso, authorities said.

Mister, who lived in the 10600 block of South Church, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

The latest non-fatal shooting happened a few minutes before 11 p.m. in the South Shore neighborhood.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the foot in the 7400 block of South Stony Island and taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.

About an hour earlier, a man was shot while riding a bike in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 18-year-old was shot in the leg in the 2500 block of West Hirsch by someone in a passing vehicle, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

About 3 p.m., three men were shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Someone fired shots from a light-colored car in the 0-100 block of North Keeler, striking three men, police said.

About 5:50 p.m., a man was shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 30-year-old was shot in the left foot in the 3300 block of West Huron, police said. He was taken in good condition to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center.

A 36-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were each shot in the leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, police said.

A third victim, another male, was also shot but left the scene before police arrived. Police said the victims are not cooperating with investigators.

Another man was shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood Thursday morning.

The 19-year-old was shot in the leg in the 300 block of South Kedzie at 11:25 a.m., police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

The first shooting Thursday happened fifteen minutes after midnight in the Oakland neighborhood on the South Side.

A 20-year-old man was outside in the 4000 block of South Oakenwald when someone in a passing silver vehicle opened fire, police said.

He was shot in the lower back and taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
