A man was seriously injured in a shooting Friday night in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 20-year-old was walking in the 1400 block of North Linder at 8:39 p.m. when a male on a bike produced a gun and fired at him, police said.

He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in serious condition with two gunshot wounds to the back, according to police.

A few dozen people braved the rain Friday to show their support of the trans community. The demonstration at Grant Park was one of about 100 such events held across the country as part of International Transgender Day of Visibility, March 31, 2023.
