Man shot to death in North Lawndale

A man was shot to death in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side late Friday.

About 11:40 p.m., 22-year-old Jamaal Barney was standing on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Drake when a gold SUV drove past and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was shot in the chest, abdomen and legs, police said.

Barney, of the 1600 block of South Central Park, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.
