Man shot in North Austin

An 18-year-old man was shot in the ankle early Tuesday in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

Just after midnight, he was standing on a sidewalk in the 5300 block of West North Avenue when three people walked up and at least one of them started shooting, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the left ankle and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where his condition stabilized, police said.
