Man charged in Lake View robbery

A 19-year-old Homewood man was charged in connection with an early Saturday robbery in the Lake View neighborhood.

Amari R. Jones, of the 18300 block of Carpenter Street, approached a 22-year-old man on the 400 block of West Melrose Street about 1:40 a.m. and demanded his property, Chicago Police said.

The victim handed over his personal items and was then struck in the face by Jones, police said.

Jones is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
