19-year-old woman dies after Chicago Heights shooting

A 19-year-old woman died Saturday night after she was shot in south suburban Chicago Heights.

Ravonia Young died at 8:58 p.m. Saturday at St. James Health in Chicago Heights, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in the 200 block of Cedar Ridge Lane in Richton Park.

Young suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue in Chicago Heights, according to the medical examiner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Chicago Heights police did not immediately respond to a call for information Sunday afternoon.
