A man was shot Tuesday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

About 9:20 p.m., the 33-year-old was driving a vehicle in the 6400 block of South Sangamon when gunfire erupted and he was shot in the back, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
