A west suburban Downers Grove man recently won $250,000 playing the Illinois Lottery.

Dennis Eslit was at Bucky’s Express, 1940 W. 75th St. in Woodridge, when he bought and scratched a winning $10 Crossword ticket, the Illinois Lottery announced Tuesday.

“When I heard him say that I won a quarter of a million dollars, I started shaking,” Eslit said.

Eslit asked the clerk to double check his ticket, thinking it was a mistake, the lottery said.

Eslit said he would use the money to pay his bills and invest for his kids to go to college.
