A man was shot during a robbery Tuesday night in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 25-year-old was walking at 8:52 p.m. in the 3300 block of West Congress when another male walked up and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police.

The man tried to grab the gun from the robber, but it discharged and he was shot in the right leg, police said. The man then took himself to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
