A 70-year-old woman was fatally struck by an SUV Saturday night in unincorporated northwest suburban Ingleside.

About 8:35 p.m., Bonnie C. Tarkowski was walking east on the north shoulder of Rollins Road near Blackhawk Avenue when she crossed the street, walking toward the south shoulder of the road, and was struck by an eastbound 2006 GMC Yukon, according to Lake County sheriff’s office spokesman Det. Chris Covelli.

Tarkowski, who lived in Ingleside, was pronounced dead at the scene, Covelli said.

The 43-year-old Fox Lake woman driving the SUV was not injured, he said.

As of Sunday morning, the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
