How’s this for someone to replace Jay Cutler on the 53-man roster: Kyle Fuller.
The former first-round pick practiced again Thursday as he recovers from arthroscopic knee surgery. The Bears have a 21-day window, which started Wednesday, to add the cornerback to the 53-man roster.
When they put Jay Cutler on injured reserve, they’ll have that space.
The Bears were concerned how Fuller would handle the soreness of Wednesday’s practice Thursday. He seems to have done well.
“Watching that live, practice today, he looked good,” coach John Fox said. “So he’s had two back-to-back two good days and we’ll continue to evaluate that the rest of the week.”
Fuller isn’t the only cornerback destined for an eventual return: rookie Deiondre’ Hall, who came back to practice last week, was limited Thursday as he recovers from a high ankle sprain.
“Much like Kyle — different scenario — but he’s moved around well and we’ll have some decisions to make about who will be active for the game,” Fox said. “In Kyle’s case it’s a little bit different because we have to make the decision on the roster first.”
