A 3-year-old South Side boy was shot and wounded Saturday afternoon in West Englewood.

Family members rushed the boy to the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital after he was shot in the right leg around 3 p.m. while he was on a sidewalk in the 5600 block of South Wolcott, according to the police, who said he wasn’t the intended target.

WLS-Channel 7 reported witnesses said young Ayden Deer was playing outside in the unseasonably warm weather.

WLS reported neighbors said suspected gang members were shooting and that they ran off after the shooting.
