A 16-year-old girl was shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side Monday night.

The teenager was riding a bicycle about 7:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Independence when a male walked up and fired shots in her direction, according to Chicago Police.

She was shot in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said.
