About to leave for Carlyle Lake and remembered I had not posted the top-10 rankings for Chicago area schools before the 2016 state championship for bass fishing.

As a former prep writer, I love the whole idea of doing a top-10 for high school bass fishing.

1. Minooka: Heidecke champ, seventh state trip

2. Zion-Benton: seventh state

3. Grant: seventh state

4. St. Charles North: advanced both boats, fifth state

5. Fenwick: Skokie Lagoons champ, fourth state

6. Huntley: Chain South champ

7. Lyons: Busse South champ

8. Bartlett: Busse Main champs

9. Reed-Custer: Braidwood champ
