About to leave for Carlyle Lake and remembered I had not posted the top-10 rankings for Chicago area schools before the 2016 state championship for bass fishing.

As a former prep writer, I love the whole idea of doing a top-10 for high school bass fishing.

Ranking Chicago-area qualifiers before state tournament Friday and Saturday on Carlyle Lake

1. Minooka: Heidecke champ, seventh state trip

2. Zion-Benton: seventh state

3. Grant: seventh state

4. St. Charles North: advanced both boats, fifth state

5. Fenwick: Skokie Lagoons champ, fourth state

6. Huntley: Chain South champ

7. Lyons: Busse South champ

8. Bartlett: Busse Main champs

9. Reed-Custer: Braidwood champ

10 (t). Stevenson: Chain North champ; Andrew: Des Plaines River champ

A man while fatally shot while in a car in the 3100 block of West Huron Street.
The man, 43, was with a group of people near the 2600 block of North Cannon Drive when he slipped and fell into the water early Wednesday.
The car was later found in the West Woodlawn neighborhood about 11 miles away and it was not known if the carjacker was hit, according to Chicago police.
