The third man in a trio who robbed a Radio Shack at gunpoint two years ago in west suburban Downers Grove was sentenced to 18 years in prison Thursday.

A jury convicted 22-year-old Brandon Jones on January 29 of one felony count each of armed robbery and armed violence, according to a statement from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

On December 11, 2013, Jones and 23-year-old Carlos Brown robbed the Radio Shack at 75th Street and Lemont Road while 21-year-old B.L. Jones drove the the getaway vehicle, prosecutors said.

When Brandon Jones and Brown entered the store about 10:45 a.m., Brandon Jones pulled out a loaded gun, pointed it at the clerk and forced the clerk to fill a bag with cellphones, prosecutors said. Brandon Jones and Brown then left the store, got into B.L. Jones’ vehicle and sped away.

Witnesses helped police spot the vehicle, which officers stopped on Route 59 near Ferry Road, prosecutors said. Police took BL Jones into custody while Brandon Jones and Brown got out of the vehicle and tried to run away. Officers took the other two men into custody after a brief foot chase.

Brown pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery in August 2014 and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. B.L. Jones also pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery in March 2015 and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
