A man was shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Wednesday night.

The 48-year-old was standing with a female in the gangway of a residence in the 700 block of West 48th Place about 8:50 p.m. when another male walked up and shot him in the abdomen, police said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
