A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized after an accidental fall from a sixth-floor window Saturday afternoon at his home in Des Plaines, the police said.

The boy fell around 1:45 p.m. from the window in the Landmark Condominium Building at 711 S. River Rd. onto a “mulched area” in the back of the building, according to police in the northwest suburb.

The boy, who lives in the unit with his parents, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The police said he was conscious and breathing when officers and paramedics arrived.
