Dog on Orange Line tracks causes delays

Orange Line service has been restored after a dog on the tracks caused delays for two hours Friday evening on the South Side.

Trains were first delayed, but moving, near 35th and Archer just before 4 p.m., according to the CTA. The same dog then ran along the tracks, causing trains to stand between Ashland and Western about 5:30 p.m. Service was restored about ten minutes later.

CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase said animal control was on the scene. The dog was off the tracks just before 6 p.m., but it was unclear if animal control had captured the animal, Chase said.

Chicago Animal Care and Control could not be reached for comment.
