Man shot in South Chicago

A man was wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the South Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The 38-year-old man was outside at 4:15 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Coles when he heard shots and realized he’d been hit, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the shoulder and took himself to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
