Woman wounded in West Ridge shooting

A woman was shot as she rode in a vehicle in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side Friday night.

The 32-year-old was in a vehicle traveling in a vehicle in the 6200 block of North Ridge about 10 p.m. A male sitting in the backseat was “playing with” a gun, which discharged and struck the woman in the lower back, police said.

The woman was treated at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where her condition stabilized, police said.
