A 19-year-old suspect in a July shooting in northwest suburban Elgin was arrested Tuesday night after he tried to board a flight to another state at O’Hare International Airport.

Oscar S. Sanchez has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony, according to a statement from Elgin police.

About 10:40 p.m. July 7, officers responding to a shooting in the 1200 block of Spruce Lane found a home had been struck multiple times by gunfire, police said.

Detectives from the department’s Gang Crimes Unit identified Sanchez as a suspect. About 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, he was arrested at O’Hare, police said.

Sanchez, who lives in the 300 block of Hendee Street in Elgin, was ordered held at the Cook County Jail on a $250,000 bond during a hearing Thursday at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse. He is due back in court Oct. 6.
