Man found shot to death in kitchen of SW Side home

A man was found shot to death in the kitchen of an Ashburn neighborhood home Tuesday afternoon on the Southwest Side.

Emergency crews were called at 4:29 p.m. to the home in the 3800 block of West 84th Place, where they found 32-year-old Arian J. Smith dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Smith, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:36 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
