The driver of an SUV hit a sedan at 87th Street and Western Avenue in Ashburn about 11 a.m. Tuesday and fled the scene, police said. The passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The 28-year-old woman was driving in the 4500 block of West 83rd Street at about 6:10 p.m. when a man driving in blue Jeep fired shots, hitting her in both her legs and her abdomen, according to police.
No one was injured during the attempted carjacking happened in the 7900 block of South Sacramento Avenue, police said.
A witness told police Virginia Rios, 39, was arguing with a man when he pulled out a gun and shot her in the head and neck about 11:45 p.m. near the 7700 block of South Cicero Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
