Police seek suspect in Elgin armed robbery

Police in northwest suburban Elgin are asking for the public’s help in the search for the suspect in an armed robbery Sunday afternoon.

Police were called about the robbery at 4:43 p.m. at a business in the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard, according to a statement from Elgin police. Employees and witnesses told investigators the suspect had brandished a silver handgun and stolen money from the cash register.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with long black hair and a beard or goatee, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at (847) 695-4195. Anonymous tips can also be texted to 847411 with “ELGINPD” at the beginning of the message.
