A man was found dead Sunday afternoon in the woods near Gompers Park on the Northwest Side. 

Raul Salinas Sr., 50, was found by his son about 1 p.m. in a secluded area of the park at 4222 W. Foster Ave., according to a spokeswoman for Forest Preserves of Cook County police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He died of a gunshot wound to the head, an autopsy found. His death was ruled a suicide.
