A burglar hit five homes in Vernon Hills in a single night this week, making off with wallets and purses, police in the north suburb say.

People were home during the burglaries, but no one was injured. Most of the burglaries are believed to have happened after 11 p.m. Monday.

The man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 10700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
The man suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
