Man shot dead in Gresham

A man was fatally shot early Thursday in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

Police responded shortly after 6 a.m. and found 24-year-old Voshon K. Johnson with a gunshot wound to his head in an alley behind an apartment complex in the 7800 block of South Marshfield Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Johnson, who lived in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the Far South Side, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
