14-year-old found with gunshot wound in McKinley Park dies

A 14-year-old boy died after he was found with a gunshot wound Friday morning in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the South Side.

Jose Aguilar was in a stolen vehicle with a male friend about 10:47 a.m. when the driver flagged down a private ambulance in the 3500 block of South Ashland, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Aguilar had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen at some point and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:02 p.m., authorities said.

A police source said the shooting may have occurred in the 4300 block of South Marshfield in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.
