A 17-year-old boy who was shot to death Monday evening in the South Chicago neighborhood has been identified

Kyle McGowan was struck in the abdomen about 5:25 p.m. in the 3000 block of East 80th Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized about 6:30 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:08 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said Tuesday morning.

The circumstances of the shooting were not known.
